Being seen matters as much as the speed itself. That’s what she’s always known; that whilst things roar and rev in the background, the focus drifts elsewhere. To those trackside, where the concrete holds the sun’s warmth and the air is filled with old money luxury.
She’s there, before anything begins. Before the flags and before the noise. This is her world now, and she steps into it as if it always was.
Before her, these places were all function; uniforms and rules as precise as the machines they were built around. Then she slipped in with color and a kind of disorder that could never belong to a stopwatch. It felt obvious; sticky heat calls for less clothing, not more, and long afternoons ask for ease and pleasure. A sense of fun that can’t be timed or measured. After all, glamor has always found its way in, whether it was invited or not.
Just being there, as her, shifts the temperature. The heat feels hotter than ever. Hibiscus reds cut against the concrete greys, and glossed lips smack together over the sound of roaring engines in the distance. Suddenly, trackside feels different…alive with a new energy. If she had to put a finger on it; less rigid, more human. Louder, somehow, than ever before.
This is what happens when you bring your own heat to the circuit. When you dress for the sun, not the rules. She’ll be back here, again, when the year rolls around and the crowds gather, ready to leave her mark somewhere new…somewhere it wasn’t before.
